Arrival/ Dismissal

Our first priority is the safety of students and staff. All rules and procedures are designed with this goal in mind, so please help us keep everyone safe, happy, and ready to learn by using patience and consistency during arrival and dismissal.

Arrival and Dismissal Diagram

Arrival

Students may not arrive at school prior to 8:45 AM, as we cannot provide supervision before that time. Students must be in their classrooms and ready to learn by 9:00 AM.

Students arriving by car, on foot, or by bicycle will enter the building through the new main entrance (Door S1).

► For Students Arriving by Car: Follow the traffic flow and AGS staff instructions when dropping off or picking up students. Safety is our primary concern. Always pull up to the end of the diamond lane to allow for as many cars as possible, thereby reducing congestion on Carlisle Rd. Students should exit the vehicle onto the sidewalk once stopped.

Students must exit the car from the passenger side. Motorists must remain in their vehicles. After dropping off a child, motorists may cautiously move from the diamond lane into the passing lane and exit onto Carlisle Road.

► For Students Arriving by Bike: Students must walk their bikes on school grounds to ensure everyone’s safety. A supervisor or crossing guard will assist students in crossing the diamond lane to the school bike rack near the S2 door. Students will then walk on the sidewalk and enter through the S1 door. It is advisable to secure bikes with a lock.

► For Students Walking: Adults will be stationed at the Hoover Street crossing and the new diamond land crossing by the S2 door. Students must stay on the sidewalks and will enter through the S1 door.

Dismissal

► For Students Being Picked Up in a Car: Cars must enter on Carlisle Road and follow the diamond lane to the New Main Entrance (Door S1). Pull as far forward as possible, displaying the yellow pick-up sign in the window. Each car rider will receive two yellow pick-up signs. (If more signs are needed, please contact Mrs. Cronin in the main office.)

Students must enter the car from the passenger side. Motorists must remain in their vehicles. Once your child is in the car, you may carefully pull into the passing lane to exit onto Carlisle Road. For safety reasons, we cannot permit adults to walk up to the car pick-up area to retrieve their child.

► For Students Walking Home: Walkers will exit through Door E1 and may proceed either east or south on the sidewalk. Those walking south should cross the diamond lane by the S2 door, where an adult will assist with crossing. For safety reasons, students and families must not walk past the S2 doors on the main sidewalk but should cross by the S2 door.

► For Students Biking Home: Bikers will exit through Door E1 and proceed south toward the S2 door (and bike rack) on the sidewalk. After retrieving their bike, students will cross by the S2 door to ensure everyone’s safety.
