From Dr. McDermott:

AGS Families we are looking forward to having our second through fifth grade students attend school in person every day starting April 6. With this change we will have more students arriving and dismissing everyday. I have included two pieces of information that I would like you to review so that we have safe and orderly arrival and dismissal. Here are a few reminders as well:

  • Students being picked up by car should use the diamond land on the east side of the school. Only walkers should be exiting door S1.
  • Parents should not get out their vehicles when picking up or dropping off students when using the diamond lane.
  • Please make sure to pull as far forward as possible when dropping students in the diamond lane. This allows for more cars to enter the diamond lane.

Parent Input Request

You are invited to participate in the parent survey supplement of the Illinois 5Essentials Survey. Your participation in the parent survey will help us understand the conditions at your child’s school and guide improvement. We guarantee that survey responses will never be connected to the identity of you or your child. School reports will only show aggregated information on how parents and students responded as a whole. Please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ to take the parent survey

We’re Hiring

The success of any future changes in the learning mode will partially rely on the availability of additional staff. We have multiple jobs posted for lunchroom aides and paraprofessionals. More information can be found HERE.

From Mr. Park:

Congratulations to our winner of the Jim ‘Basketball’ Jones signed basketball, Kaitlyn Phillips from Mr. Wyeth’s room. Her name was drawn from all AGS students including BVA for a chance to win. Special Thank You to our PTO for providing this opportunity for you all to enjoy. Have a great break. Stay safe and be active. Maybe try some activities that Jim provided. Mr. Park

Our event is right around the corner! Have you joined the HEART HEROES yet?!

Registering for your school’s event is quick and easy– just follow this link:   http://www2.heart.org/goto/alicegustafson101

We hope you are really enjoying the fun activities we’re doing right now, and that you feel great about helping kids with special hearts! Keep up the great work and remember that exercise can reduce the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure.

If you haven’t already, please spend a few minutes getting to know more about our event by watching this video with your student at home: Meet Our Heart Heroes!

This email is to let you know there is still plenty of time to participate and raise money.  ANY student that registers online (http://www2.heart.org/goto/alicegustafson101or using our free mobile app (Kids Heart Challenge) and takes the challenge will receive a FREE wristband to help them remember to keep their hearts healthy!

Once your student starts collecting donations they will be able to take home their very own Heart Hero! Every Heart Hero has a very important message to share about heart health so be sure to ask your student what they learned from their new lifesaver friends!

Thank you for choosing water, moving more, and being kind! Every single dollar you raise will help kids and families build healthier lives. I’m so proud of our school community for making such a big difference! Thank you for being a Heart Hero!

Fighting youth tobacco use, improving child nutrition and working to protect patients from surprise medical billing are just a few of the ways we’re working to create healthier communities—but  we need YOUR voice! Visit yourethecure.org to speak out today!
